Gifted & Talented
Gifted and Talented at Everitt Middle School
The GT center at Everitt provides a rich, diverse, and academically challenging environment for gifted learners. Our program consists of four self-contained, advanced learning classrooms in core content areas: Science, Social Studies, English/Language Arts, and Math. Students are in core classes with gifted peers and are engaged in rigorous coursework infused with social-emotional learning and enrichment opportunities. This allows us to meet their unique individual needs and to further develop their interests and strengths.

Programming
Designed to inspire and challenge bright young minds, our program offers a stimulating learning environment tailored to the unique needs of gifted students. Our GT center teachers are highly qualified to teach gifted students with a GT-endorsed license. Students in Everitt’s Gifted and Talented (GT) program complete coursework in Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Math coursework can range from accelerated sixth-grade math to geometry, and is determined by the individual student's skills and previous coursework. The GT core teachers work together to ensure student success through deeper learning, self-directed learning and cross-curricular activities.
Key Features of our program include:
-
Accelerated Curriculum: Engage in advanced coursework and explore topics beyond the traditional classroom.
-
Project-Based Learning: Dive deep into subjects they're passionate about through hands-on projects and research.
-
Collaborative Learning: Connect with peers and work together to solve complex problems.
-
Enrichment Opportunities: Participate in field trips, workshops, and special events to broaden their horizons.
Social Emotional Learning and support:
- Students have access to a GT counselor for social-emotional learning opportunities as a whole class, in small groups, or individually as needed.
What do our Everitt students say?
“We go faster and dive deeper. Some activities/assignments are modified to cater to us (more creative, more hands on, more movement). Most every teacher is very accommodating to your needs and is there for you when you need it.”
“I like that the teachers know that everyone learns in different ways and that’s ok. They let us learn in our own way and we get to go deeper that way and it can be really fun and challenging all at the same time. I really like being here.”
“ All the teachers are fun and happy. They teach really well and have high expectations. They teach to a variety of students who are pleased with the way that they are taught.”
“I love Everitt. It is a great place to learn!”
What The Parents are Saying
“The GT program at Everitt was a great place for my three kids. The learning opportunities presented to each of them fit their different learning styles perfectly. The teachers are experts in teaching formed connections that will last a lifetime.”
“Everitt brings out your child’s strengths and provides an environment for them to love learning and being at school. Everitt inspired my son to be his best self.”
“When I ask my son how he likes Everitt, “He says, he loves it.” Everyday he talks about something exciting he has learned about that day. At his previous middle school, he was just trying to survive until high school. Now he is thriving in all areas!” Thank you, Everitt!!
"Everitt is a family that will boost your child's confidence academically, socially, and emotionally. It teaches outside the box, in fact teaches your child how to build and choose their own box."

Gifted & Talented in Jeffco
The Jeffco Public Schools Gifted and Talented (GT) Department’s vision is to Actualize Learners’ Potential for gifted and high-ability learners through a focus on access, equity, inclusion and diversity. All students deserve an education that provides meaningful growth academically, socially and emotionally.
Each year, every second grader in Jeffco takes The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) which measures reasoning skills with different types of verbal, quantitative and nonverbal questions. The results of this test inform teachers which students may be identified as gifted and talented.
What Is A Gifted Student?
GT students are learners between the ages of four and 21 whose abilities, talents or potential for accomplishment are so exceptional or developmentally advanced that they require special educational programming.
