To report an absence:

In Campus

Log in to Infinite Campus. Click on "More than Absence Requests". Select your student or students, the reason for the absence, and the type of absence, "Full Day", "Arrive Late" or "Leave Early". Then select the date/s and times, if applicable, then please add any additional information in the comments section then click Submit.

Our top priority at Everitt is student learning and being together while learning is the best way to learn. For that reason, we have the following attendance policies and procedures.

Policies and Procedures

If your student is absent or late for any reason, please call the Everitt Attendance Line at 303-982-1573 to leave a message (available 24 hours a day).

You may also call the Everitt front office at 303-982-1580.

Please leave a message that states:

Parent/Guardian's first and last name
Student's first and last name
Grade the student is in
Date of the absence or tardy
Reason for the absence or tardy
A working phone number to reach you

Absences

State law requires attendance at school for all students under the age of 17. The primary responsibility for ensuring that students attend is that of parents/guardians. Acceptable reasons for excused absences are temporary illness, injury, family emergencies, absences for other reasons that have been approved by a school administrator, extended absences due to physical, mental, or emotional disability, or absences due to being in the custody of court or law enforcement.

If your student will be absent from school for a typical 1-day absence (illness, emergencies, appointments, or other 1 day events):

Call the attendance line by 10:00 a.m. at 303-982-1573 or email veronica.marquez@jeffco.k12.co.us.
All absences MUST be called in within 24 hours of the occurrence, or they will remain unexcused.
You can call ahead for scheduled absences such as doctor appointments.
If your student will be absent from school for 2 days or more:
A pre-arranged absence form is required to be completed and turned in to the front office before the absence.
You can obtain these forms in the front office from Ms. Ronnie.
Your student will need to take this form around to each of their teachers AND their counselor, principal, or assistant principal, and then return it to the front office.
The front office will make a copy to send home with your students so they know what work they will be missing.
You DO NOT need to call the front office if this form has been completed and turned in before the absence.

Missing as few as 2 days per month can have a significant impact on a child’s learning. We want to partner with you to ensure that your student is in school and learning each day. After 10 absences, you will receive an attendance letter letting you know how many absences your student has missed. We will work with you to come up with a plan to help your child attend regularly.

Tardies

Students will receive after-school or lunch detentions for excessive tardies. Parents will be notified if this is the case.
If your student is tardy to school at the beginning of the day, there are 3 ways to excuse this tardy:
Please call the attendance line at 303-982-1573 or email Ms. Ronnie with the reason for the tardy.
Send a note excusing the tardy with your student when they arrive.
Have your student bring a note from a medical professional **This is the preferred and only guaranteed method for excusing a tardy. If your student has a doctor’s note, you do not need to walk them in, the note acts as your signature.
Parents cannot excuse a tardy that happens outside of the drop-off timeframe.

Early Dismissals

Early dismissals disrupt the education of the other students. All students leaving outside of the normal school hours must sign in or out of the front office.

There are three options for picking up a student early:

Preferred and least disruptive - Review the bell schedule and arrange with your student to MEET you in the front office during their passing period. If the pickup time you need falls within 15 minutes of the beginning of the next period, do not have them go to class. Pick them up a little early during the passing period.
Send a note with your student to bring to the front office BEFORE school starts. They will be given a pass to leave class at the appropriate time to meet you in the office. It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of the pass and the time to leave class at the right time.
If your student is going home with an adult who is not listed in Infinite Campus, send a note with your student to permit us to send them with the other parent.

If you need to pick your students up close to the end of the day, please pick them up before 3:30 p.m. to avoid the rush of pick-up time.

We understand that emergencies arise and the above procedures are not applicable sometimes. But, please follow our procedures whenever possible. Our goal is to keep the classroom interruptions to a minimum.

Attendance in Jeffco

The importance of regular, daily school attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Attendance is a shared responsibility of the student, the families and the school.

It is the family’s responsibility to ensure their student attends school and to notify the school when their student is absent for a legitimate reason, such as an illness or family emergency. Each family should also ensure their student’s school has their correct contact information so that the school is able to communicate about any attendance issues that may arise.
