Biographical Sketch:  Born and raised in Westminster Colorado. I graduated in 1992 from Westminster High School. I graduated from Colorado State University in 1997. After spending two years in AmeriCorps working with students who struggled in reading, I decided to apply to be an ESL tutor for Jeffco Schools. After years as an ESL tutor at Wheat Ridge Middle School, I applied to be the ESL teacher at that same school. I did not have a teaching degree so I had to go to school full-time in Teacher in Residence program through Metro State while earning my Master's degree at the same time. I spent 10 years as the ESL teacher before switching roles to become an 8th grade Language Arts teacher. After 13 years at WRMS I left the classroom to become a Master Teacher working directly with teachers to improve their instruction at Stein Elementary. After two years there, I made the move back to the classroom to Everitt to be a reading intervention teacher. I have been at Everitt since 2015.
