- Favorite Book(s): The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Favorite teen novel this year, The Hate You Give
- How do you spend your summer breaks? Camping and adventures with my family. I read teen literature during the school year, but adult novels (historical fiction, mostly) in the summer.
- How would your middle school teachers describe you as a middle school student? I think my middle school teachers would describe me as a pretty likable, hard-working student (However, I did have to have a parent/teacher meeting about my friends and me rolling our eyes when a teacher assigned work). I struggled in math but thrived as a writer. The secret to middle school is to have an open mind to new ideas, new people and new experiences.
Degree(s)/Training:
- BA Language Arts/Education (UNC)
- Master's educational Counseling (U of Phoenix)
Biographical Sketch:
I was born and raised in Lakewood and am a Jeffco alumni. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, but I always thought I would work in an elementary school. However, one summer, while in college, I volunteered at a camp filled with middle-school-aged students and fell in love with their energy and the pivotal place they are in their young lives. I am passionate about reading and writing and enjoy sharing this with my students.
